History

The Early Childhood Islamic Education study program or abbreviated as PIAUD was established in 2015. The PIAUD study program was established starting with an awareness of the importance of children's education from an early age, caring and paying attention to children's growth and development because if there is no attention to children's education from an early age, many problems will arise, both in terms of physical, mental and behavioral health of children. We want the growth and development of children whose age stages. Need proper stimulation and guidance from adults around children, namely the family, school and community environment. At that time, we saw that there was a need for institutions at the Higher Education Level that produced an educator who had competencies, namely pedagogic, professional, personality and social competencies, which these competencies were competencies that must be possessed by an educator. Educators with this competence are expected to understand and reliably place themselves when educating children, communicating with parents, and establishing relationships with the community for the benefit of children's education. This competency development effort is also supported by the study of keislman material obtained by students or prospective educators in lectures so that educators have a competitive and dignified Islamic character.

Based on the above, the Faculty of Islamic Religion (FAI) Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) feels the need to realize the above ideas and also help one of the important tasks in early childhood education, contributing to educating the lives of the nation's children. The realization of this idea was carried out by opening a new study program called the Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD) study program. Initially, this PIAUD study program was called Raudhatul Athfal Teacher Education (PGRA) which was established in 2015. The PGRA study program began operating to accept students in 2016 because the operational permit was issued in October. Meanwhile, UIR's new student admissions in 2015 were in August. The first curriculum used by the PGRA study program (2016) is the Indonesian National Framework Curriculum (KKNI).

In 2017 there was a change in name from the PGRA study program to the PIAUD study program upon the submission of academic manuscripts by UIR to the Ministry of Higher Education Research and Technology (KEMENSRISTEKDIKTI). After approval by the Ministry, UIR issued letter Number 330 / UIR / KPTS / 2017 concerning the adjustment of the nomenclature of study programs at the Faculty of Islamic Religion, Universitas Islam Riau from Raudhatul Athfal Teacher Education (PGRA) to Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD). From this new name, the PIAUD study program continues to try to develop itself from year to year, by continuing to produce prospective professional educators who are able to educate and educate early childhood, in addition to self-development by continuing to upgrade the advantages of the study program through graduate profiles made based on needs in the community, as for the profile of PIAUD Study Program graduates, namely becoming ECCE educators / teachers, Educators (ECCE managers), ECCE edupreneurs (entrepreneurs in the field of ECCE: APE, children's story books and other educational products, and the profile of excellent graduates is to become a Shadow Teacher (Accompanying Teacher for Children with Special Needs) Currently at the age of the 8th PIAUD study program, many achievements have been achieved both at the national and international levels. In 2021, PIAUD Study Program also changed the curriculum to KKNI MBKM in accordance with the policies of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (KEMENDIKBUDRISTEK), and has implemented various MBKM programs such as Independent Student Exchange (PMM), Teaching Campus, Building Villages (Thematic Real Work Lectures) and School Field Introduction (PLP). In the future, PIAUD study program will continue to spread its wings so that it continues to fly high, becoming a leading study program in Riau.
