Before the name has changed into Islamic Facuty (FAI) UIR Pekanbaru, this faculty formerly named Ushuluddin Faculty, which is the oldest faculty and the only religion faculty from each seven faculties that in UIR Pekanbaru environment.

In Islamic Studies Faculty, there is a Study Program which the only one to have A accreditation in Kopertais XII (Riau Province and Kepulauan Riau Province). In addition, Islamic Faculty is also the only faculty that holds a community services for National and International.
